You just gotta be you!

Okay, so I’m on the Kung Fu Panda kick and there is just one more article that needs to be written about this phenomenal movie.  Did I mention that I loved the movie?  So, in the last article, I pointed out that Po learned that the secret ingredient is him.  Now, that said, there is one more important point to mention when considering that we are the secret ingredient in internet marketing.  We are not marketing a product or service, we are marketing the secret ingredient….us!  Now, this secret ingredient needs to be genuine, that is the most important point when you’re putting yourself out there for the whole internet to get to know (or at least a portion of the internet).  People who will watch, read, and follow you will not be fooled by a facade.  You must made absolutely sure that what you say, write and do is in complete alignment with your beliefs and who you are, otherwise it will be obvious to those watching you. You want to attract others to you that are like you, so in order to do that you must be completely yourself.  Po is not a kung fu fighter and cannot be trained as all the others have been trained.  Here is the interaction between he and his master:

Shifu: When you focus on kung fu, when you concentrate, you stink.
[Po frowns]
Shifu: But perhaps that is my fault. I cannot train you the way I have trained the Five. I now see that the way to get through to you is with this.
[pulls out a bowl of dumplings]

Po: Oh great, ’cause I am hungry!
Shifu: [laughs] Good. When you have been trained, you may eat. Let’s begin.

So, Shifu figures out who Po really is and uses that to his advantage in training him to be a great kung fu fighter.  We must never fight our God given talents and abilities, nor ever look on them as weaknesses.  Instead we have to find ways in which to make them our strengths and shine in areas that only we can shine.  If you’re afraid to get in front of the camera and make videos, then use pictures and captions, I guarantee that you will find out that it’s not about being all polished, it’s about being yourself.  People will love and respect that, and you will have people calling you.  Why?  Because you put yourself out there, made yourself vulnerable, and showed others who you really were.  You know my challenge, I don’t have to restate it, just go and do it…..now!
