Warning, if you haven’t seen Kung Fu Panda, don’t read this!

So, I’m at the movies with my family yesterday, and this wonderful movie has great messages for young and old alike, as well as a very important message for marketers. The premise of the movie is this overweight panda (Jack Black who is hilarious), who has a dream to become a great kung fu fighter. His father (who is a goose or something… obvious adoption) is just certain that his son’s destiny is to become a noodle salesman like himself and the 3 generations before. Po, the panda is afraid to tell his father what his heart’s true desire is and falls unexpectectedly into his destiny.

Well, without giving too much away, the message at the end as a moral for the entire story is 1st, believe in yourself enough to try something that everyone else is telling you is ridiculous. Oftentimes, especially in this business, people will ask “now what is it that you do?” I know because I get it from my family all of the time. It is tough to persevere when you believe that all of those around you are against you and can’t understand the potential that is available to those who are able to market effectively on the internet. Here’s my challenge to you on this point, do something everyday that terrifies you, and just see what you find out about yourself

2nd and most important lesson that Po learns is that that “there is no secret ingredient” in the famous soup his father makes. The secret ingredient is his dad, that is why it is so delicious and everyone loves it. So, what does that mean for internet marketers…..you tell me! The secret ingredient IS you!! Products and programs will come and go, there is not anything new under the sun out there except for you. You are the brand and when people get to know you and like you, they will trust you and you will have a platform in which to direct people you come in contact with through this exposure to products, programs, etc… that you recommend. So there is your challenge, go and brand yourself, not a product, and watch the phenomenal results!
